🍅 Classic Pomodoro Sauce for PurePasta Meat Ravioli
A traditional, simple, and tasty recipe to enhance the flavor of our gluten-free ravioli.
📝 Ingredients (for 4 servings)
- 1 large can of natural tomato pulp (400–500g)
- ½ white onion
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- A handful of fresh basil leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ½ tsp sugar (optional)
- 2 tbsp water or vegetable broth (optional)
👩🍳 Step-by-step preparation
- Prepare the aromatic base: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil. Sauté the chopped onion and garlic until golden and fragrant.
- Add the tomato pulp: Add the natural tomato pulp and cook over medium-low heat for 15–20 minutes.
- Finish with basil: When the sauce has thickened, add the basil leaves. Stir and turn off the heat.
- Process (optional): For a smoother texture, process the sauce with a mixer or blender.
🍅 How to properly cook canned tomato pulp
To make an authentic tasting pomodoro sauce using canned pulp:
- I poured the pulp into a pan with the previously sautéed onion and garlic base.
- Cook over medium heat until the tomato reduces its acidity and thickens (15–20 minutes).
- Add ½ teaspoon of sugar if needed to balance the acidity.
- Finally, add fresh basil to give it aroma and flavor.
Tip: Choose tomato pulp without added sugar or preservatives for best results.
