🍅 Classic Pomodoro Sauce for PurePasta Meat Ravioli

A traditional, simple, and tasty recipe to enhance the flavor of our gluten-free ravioli.

📝 Ingredients (for 4 servings)

  • 1 large can of natural tomato pulp (400–500g)
  • ½ white onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • A handful of fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ tsp sugar (optional)
  • 2 tbsp water or vegetable broth (optional)

👩🍳 Step-by-step preparation

  1. Prepare the aromatic base: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil. Sauté the chopped onion and garlic until golden and fragrant.
  2. Add the tomato pulp: Add the natural tomato pulp and cook over medium-low heat for 15–20 minutes.
  3. Finish with basil: When the sauce has thickened, add the basil leaves. Stir and turn off the heat.
  4. Process (optional): For a smoother texture, process the sauce with a mixer or blender.

🍅 How to properly cook canned tomato pulp

To make an authentic tasting pomodoro sauce using canned pulp:

  1. I poured the pulp into a pan with the previously sautéed onion and garlic base.
  2. Cook over medium heat until the tomato reduces its acidity and thickens (15–20 minutes).
  3. Add ½ teaspoon of sugar if needed to balance the acidity.
  4. Finally, add fresh basil to give it aroma and flavor.

Tip: Choose tomato pulp without added sugar or preservatives for best results.
